It's 12:47am, I'm sitting here thinking about how much work I have to do before I go to bed.  My 2 year old decided that it would be fun to completely dump out her book basket all over the living room floor.  So, now my living room floor looks like a book store barfed all over it.  Then, earlier today, she wanted to play with her mega blocks. Well, let's just say that the blocks go everywhere.

Today, I finally got my place cleaned up.  We decided that we'd put the names of each room on a slip of paper, throw them into a container and let our daughter pick them out in order. That way, we wouldn't be tempted to start of cleaning with the kitchen and get frustrated at the rest of our place, like we usually do.  So, it worked. We started off cleaning the spare room/scrapbooking room first. Then, moved onto the living room, bathroom, daughters room, kitchen/dining room, and lastly our bedroom. Minus our bedroom, the whole place is cleaned.

I think I need toothpicks to keep my eyelids open at this point. You're probably thinking "why dont you just go to bed?!" well, to answer that....I have to make muffins, and my husband's lunch for work. Otherwise, he will starve, and we can't have that.  And the reason, I'm not in the kitchen making muffins (oatmeal raisin) is because my daughter is stirring in her bedroom, and I didn't want to wake her. So, now it's a wait and see game.

Anyhow, that's it...I'm zonked. Good night!

Christmas Break Activities

I was recently asked if I could post some activites for kids to do while on Christmas Break. Growing up, we didn't have a tv, and my mom always had "home made fun" for us. So, here is a list of some of the activities you can do with your "bored" kids on Christmas break.

1)Make apple cinnamon ornaments (even young ones can do this-ask me for ingredients)
2)Make snowflakes (popsicle sticks, glitter, glue)
3)Do a ginger bread house. You build it, let the kids do what they want for decorating. And we know they dont ever come with enough icing or swing by the bulk food store and grab some extras.
4)Make window art (picture frame, beads, buttons, gems, mod podge (or clear glue) )
5)Games night!
6)Movie night! (let the kids pick the movie, and the snacks, let them prepare it or help them)
7)Make Christmas crackers!
8)Make home made christmas gifts (cake mix in a jar/cookie mix in a jar)
9)Make ice candles(milk carton, wick, crushed ice, wax (from cheapo candles))
10)Make tin can lanterns (ask me for product lists...)
11)cook outside (why not bundle up and have a bbq?
12)Birdwatching...It's amazing how many sweet birds stick around for winter
13)have snowball fights/build snow forts
14)make snow art....get some spray bottles from the dollar store, fill with coloured water and let the kids go at the snow
15)volunteer/visit a seniors home(with permission of course)/carolling/community tree lighting events
16)ice skating
17)free for all friday (or whatever day)...drag out ALL craft items, leave them in one place and let the kids create whatever they want to
18)Star gazing...let the kids stay up a little later and star gaze...teach them of some before you go out. Stars seem brighter in the winter
19)go tubing/sledding/skiing/sleigh ride
20)make chocolate/fruit fondue
21)sock puppets...grab some of their old socks...and you could either sew on button eyes for them, or teach them how to.
22)puppet show with their sock puppets
23)pretend it's summer and spread out the picnic blanket in the livign room...and have a picnic lunch
24)Make finger paints
25)chocolate pudding bath hehe
26)yogurt paint (tub of vanilla yogurt, food coloring-let them go wild in the tub)
27)playdoh...home made or bought
28)build forts

been a while

Wow! Didn't realize it's been so long since I have blogged. April was the last time, so that makes it 6 months ago!? wowzers! Well, a lot has happened in that time. DH worked at camp this summer, my family came to visit from Newfoundland. I went back with them to bring my sister home, and I ended up staying a month and a half-I was only supposed to stay 2 weeks...but, money was tight, and really, I was enjoying myself. My mom and I did a bunch of stuff together. We did the usual going places, but we also made preserves. We bottled beets, made carrot relish, and made strawberry apple jam. It was all so very yummy! And that brings me up to now. My daughter has just turned 19mths, she's starting to use the potty, now going to bed partially awake. She has progressed so much in just a few months....she's incredible.

I haven't done any scrapbooking in the last 4-5mths...I just haven't felt like it. I have an issue, and that is ... I compare my work to others work. I get in this rut where "Im not good enough". Well, I went to a LSS the other day, and a girl I know was there...she stopped and talked to me, and asked how scrapbooking was going. And so, I told her the ugly truth of what I just told you. And she smartened me up then and there. She told me that it doesn't matter what others think of your work, or your create them for your family, and your family alone. It's going to be your daughter who's going to look at them, and so on....stop comparing, and take a break. So, maybe I should take a break from the scrappy world...and stop looking at sites, and blogs...and just do my own thing I like it, and not care what anyone else thinks.

I did pick up a new hobby while at home. Knitting. My mom taught me one night, and then I started knitting a dish cloth the next night...I'm just about done that one. I really enjoy it, and it gives me something to do when I have some free time other than reading or whatever.

Easter 2011-Lauren's 2nd Easter

Lauren had a wonderful Easter today!! Last year, it was technically her 1st Easter...however she was only 10 days old. This year, I was determined to make it special for her. We woke up, she discovered her treat baskets from nannie, grandma and mommy/daddy, and she dove right into them. Then, it was time for boiling eggs, dying them, and having breakfast. We got daddy up, and went to church, came home and she had her 1st Easter Egg Hunt!! Lauren loved finding the eggs, and putting them in the basket...however, she just didn't want to let them go :) Here are some pictures from our day!
